Thanks, DirecTV, for telling me that because my dad didn’t get more TV channels to suck away our lives, I will grow up to be an unfortunate “slutwhore” who has no ambition or control over her life. Also, I will be “slutty” and rebellious, but not TOO rebellious because I got married before I got pregnant. But I am undesirable because I have a nosering and wore a short wedding dress with elements of punk culture in my fashion choices. We never actually see my boyfriend being undesirable, other than the fact that he plays video games and wears punk clothing. But that’s UNDESIRABLE and that’s all you, the clearly straight, white, male baby boomer target market needs to know.
Your commercial is terrible.
Also, who plays video games at arcades anymore? Seriously.
What’s with the addition of the quotation marks? The post was already sarcastic. It’s glaringly obvious that this commercial seeks to reinforce patriarchal control of women’s sexuality. Sluttiness is the obvious term of choice for those who love to shame women. Look she has a vagina and has is having sex with her punk boyfriend and I can’t control that! Undesirable! Slut!
I think we’re both on the same page, but don’t change my words; add your own.
